Well, after two rounds of voting, the winner of the Nature Museum photo contest is "An African giant land snail banquet", followed by the "A colourful slice of the Esquel Meteorite from Argentina".

There is a front runner now since the last three photo competitions has had a consistent second-place winner.  Way to go, Daddio!!  The chances of a celebration at Starbucks are now significantly lower, much to the disappointment of more than half the family who really wanted to get photos of the males of the household enjoying their cinnamon dolce lattes with warm scones.  Better luck next time, girls. Step that game up!!

CANADA AGRICULTURE AND FOOD MUSEUM

This Museum visit found the animals all about to chow down for supper, and it was wonderfully noisy and chaotic.  This photo-challenge stood out from the others because the animals were not cooperative subjects and hilarity ensued.  We persevered and enjoyed round three immensely.

Sometimes, it's just so easy to be merely a passive observer and just not really see.  To remedy this malaise, I issued a photo-challenge to the whole family to take their very best photo of each particular museum visit and get it uploaded to this website.  They all accepted, some with more enthusiasm than others but so far 100% participation has been achieved...

NATIONAL GALLERY OF CANADA

The first visit was to the architecturally stunning National Gallery of Canada.  Despite contending with obvious restrictions as to what is permissible to photograph, the contest quickly became very competitive!  There are lots more images on Pinterest NicholeOttawa.

PHOTO CHALLENGE!!!

CANADA AVIATION AND SPACE MUSEUM

Here are the submissions for final stage of the photo challenge!

Each member voted but could not vote for their own photo.  The imaginative take on Colville comment cards entitled "Tron" was the first round winner.  This severe black-and-white geometric photo was a stand-out and the subject matter was atypical.  The winner was positively gleeful!  Second place is "Clouds".  Here's to round two!

CANADIAN MUSEUM OF NATURE

We dropped into the "castle museum" and headed straight to the mineral gallery, bird gallery and animalium.  Creepy critters, stuffed birds and rock samples are not cooperative nor smiley.  We did learn lots about meteorites and lava and also learned some decent bird calls.

Okay, the final submissions have been voted on...The round three winner is" UnBEElievable!", followed by "It's been a hard day's night".  Kudos to both photographers!  This was the by far the closest vote yet and, still, the field is wide open for a front-runner of the overall photo-contest.

CANADIAN MUSEUM OF HISTORY

The next visit was across the river on a super muggy day to the museum formerly known as  the Canadian Museum of Civilization.  With the tantalizing first prize as a family outing to a restaurant of one's choice, the stakes were raised significantly, far past the ordinary bragging rights for all eternity. The game was on & the atmosphere was charged with sibling rivalry.

A first-place win for the close-up stark photo of the bullet-ridden windshield of a UN vehicle driven by two Canadian peacekeepers in Bosnia.  A second-place win for the emotionally laden photo of the headstone of the Unknown Soldier with a shadow across it.

Okay, it's a tie!!  Wowsers.  The youngest in the family has four points with two first-place wins and Daddy has four points with his four second-place showings.  With a winner in the sixth and final round, there will be a clear victory or a three-way tie.  Results of the last stage of the family photo competition at the Aviation Museum will be posted shortly.  Stay tuned!

After a fall hiatus, our photo contest has resumed.  We love to visit the War Museum and its famed architecture is certainly thought-provoking.  It was a cold overcast day, so the light was soft.

The winner's photo "History Museum" won because of its welcoming and natural perspective, followed by the elegant and architectural "Sand wave".  All photos were taken in the soft light of the great outdoors and the competition is still wide open.

And the winner is Daddy!

With his first-place  photo cleverly titled "Face-Off" and four second-place showings, he was a very consistent and strong player throughout the game.

He also managed to avoid his dreaded humiliation of downing a chai latte and has chosen dinner at a seafood restaurant for his victory celebration!

Congratulations!

CANADIAN WAR MUSEUM

It was a fun Saturday visit at the Aviation Museum.  The kids had a blast making #MuseumAliens with clay and of course, there was the last challenge in the highly competitive photo competition.
