At $43 for a family visit plus a parking fee, it isn't cheap but it is fun. The Canada Science & Technology Museum, often called the Science & Tech Museum -- re-opened in November 2017 after extensive renovations after black mould was discovered on the premises. This is a great example of turning lemons into lemonade!
What is new: Gone is the 70s style mall feeling, replaced by a feeling of spaciousness and flow. The exterior is modern with bright computerized displays. The exhibits detailing many artifacts are well-planned, showcasing design evolution, from refrigerators, snowmobiles, bicycles to handheld technology. The architecture is confident, not tired and dreary as before, and the demos are much more interactive, engaging the senses and challenging visitors.
What stayed: The perennial favourites, the train exhibit and the crazy kitchen, are back and still wildly popular.
This museum is worth a visit because it is clear that the museum goal strives to both educate and entertain. Check.
